Stamped How To

Stamped how to
Stamped concrete has been time-tested to provide a hard, durable abrasion-resistant surface. Each year we see an increased demand for this process, recently to providing a decorative finish over radiant floor heat systems.
1. #4 rebar is suggested to provide additional strength, placed 18" on center. steps.jpg (19528 bytes)
2. 4" of concrete is typical, using a special mix, and will be saw cut to industry standards.
3. After the concrete is poured, it is floated.
4. At this point, the concrete hardener is applied by broadcasting it on to the concrete. A hardener is a ready-to-use product for coloring and hardening concrete surfaces. Placing the hardener occurs after the bleed water has disappeared. This color is the dominate color of the finished product and will be floated into the surface.
5. The release is specifically formulated to form a moisture barrier between the stamping tool and wet concrete to facilitate the release of the flexible stamping tool. This color gives a timeworn antique finish.
6. The stamp tool is a rubberized mat and is applied directly to the concrete. There are a wide variety of patterns available to choose from; slate and brick to tile, each one providing a completely different look.
7. All excess color is removed by high pressure washing with water after the concrete has set and dried. By removing most of the release from the high spots, and leaving more in the deeper areas, the color will be enhanced.
8. The client will choose a sealer at this time, depending on the desired finish.
